At Tessian we have built our technology to empower people to work safely, without security getting in their way. We believe people shouldn’t have to be security experts to do their jobs. Our Human Layer Security platform automatically protects employees from risks like data exfiltration, accidental data loss and phishing.

We believe people are the most important decision makers in any organisation. We’re a group of data scientists, engineers, designers, creative thinkers and commercial experts that are passionate about protecting people processing data in the enterprise.

We’ve raised $60m from security investors Sequoia, Accel and Balderton who have helped build many industry defining companies including Stripe, Slack, Crowdstrike and Dropbox and have two office locations in both London and San Francisco.

We would love to hear from you.

Engineering at Tessian

Engineering at Tessian strives to:

  • Build quickly
  • Delight our customers by preventing previously unpreventable data breaches
  • Create secure systems

This is no mean feat and requires the right combination of ambition and technical excellence. We know that with the right tools, the right approach and the right people we can pull this off. If this sounds like a challenge you would like to take on - we want to hear from you. Find out more about life as a Tessian Engineer in the link below.

Our Tech Stack

We have a service-oriented backend where we do everything from running live machine learning models to processing billions of emails. These backend systems rely on data provided through our integrations which today include SMTP servers and Outlook add-ins and in the future will cover new data interfaces.

Principles that we believe in:

  • Infrastructure as code (mostly Terraform)
  • Unit Testing and Integration Testing (NUnitPyTestMocha)
  • Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment (using Concourse)
  • Designing security in (rather than testing for and adding it later)
  • Measuring everything (so far with ELK but we are migrating to Prometheus)
  • Reproducible builds and environments (if it’s in production, it’s in Docker)
  • Cloud Deployments (AWS gives us the flexibility we need to move fast)
