Frontastic is looking for a Tech Lead (f/*/m) to join the team on a full-time basis (32-40hrs). We’re a remote company currently operating in the Europe/Berlin timezone and are looking for candidates from the EMEA region in UTC-UTC+3 timezones.

Let commerce teams build the incredible — that’s our mission. Frontastic is a Commerce Frontend Platform that delivers value for customers who demand frontend excellence. Usually, our customers build their commerce sites based on our product with internal resources or with their external agency. But for some customers, we offer this service as well. For this, we’re looking for a Tech Lead to manage our custom development team.

What you’ll do

To support our well-known customers in implementing their initial headless project based on Frontastic, we are now seeking a Technical Lead for our dedicated custom development team. In this role you will be sparring with the Project Manager in the leading of our custom development team and on technical elements of client projects, translating their specific requirements into technical requirements. Aligning with our product team you’ll ensure that the delivered solutions are high-performance and scalable and that these technical requirements are recorded for consideration for general product development.


  • Lead development efforts of large-scale customer-specific eCommerce implementations, utilizing MACH architectural frameworks enabled through Frontastic providing both oversight and hands-on contributions to the software design, development, integration, and code reviews.
  • Technical management of an interdisciplinary team as well as the joint implementation of software projects based on JavaScript and PHP for our well-known customers.
  • Support the team by reviewing and evaluating code in line with the technical requirements, offering coaching and advice to deliver high-performant solutions.
  • Gathering information from customer’s projects and translating it into technical requirements for our custom development team to deliver.
  • Optimize applications for performance and scalability.
  • Act as the technical liaison between the custom development team and our Customers, and between Customer Projects and Product team.
  • Support the project manager in identifying project risks and planning risk mitigation measures.
Who you are
  • You reside and work in Europe (UTC to UTC +3).
  • Possess the attitude and skills to survive in a complex and highly dynamic remote environment – and you know how to grow this attitude in your co-workers.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with API-first architecture leveraging popular commerce frameworks such as ElasticPath or Commercetools.
  • At least 3 years of experience with GraphQL and REST APIs.
  • Experience with writing and debugging multiple web technologies like Next.js, React, React Hooks, Recharts, GraphQL, JavaScript, Node.js, React Testing Library, PHP, CSS, Styled Components.
  • Experienced in breaking down work into smaller actionable tasks for team members and in developing others through coaching.
  • Able to talk to customers on both the technical and business-level, and explain technical concepts to them in simple language.
  • Have good written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • It would be helpful if you already have experience working remotely.
